Is it ok for me to wash my dogs with my shampoo?

I really need to give my dogs a bath but i ran out of dog shampoo and i cant really get to a store right now. I was wondering if it would be ok if i used my shampoo that I use for my hair. I've read the bottles and it doesnt really say anything. So would it be ok or would they get skin irritation or something?

Please help!!!!Is it ok for me to wash my dogs with my shampoo?
Not a good idea. Shampoo created for people have a different PH balance and will dry out your dogs skin.

If you are in a pinch, tearless baby shampoo is acceptable on occasion. Is it ok for me to wash my dogs with my shampoo?
CALL YOUR VET AND MAKE SURE - THE BRAND MAY BE HARMFUL. YOU JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH WITH THE BATH
Once won't hurt the dog but don't make a habit of it. Human shampoos will strip the dogs coat of much needed natural oils.
I never use dog shampoo on mine. I always use my shampoo. I just put the shampoo on and wash the dog just like I would my hair
I used to do it all the time, but it doesnt have the flea stuff in it.
i don't see why you can't..i've used ';human'; shampoo on my dog before and nothing bad has happened..
I think they say not to,because some dogs are really sensitive, but then others are not.

if you do it i just would use a little and try it out.
It's okay as long as you don't do it regularly. :P My friend washes her dog with her shampoo all of the time. Her dog actually smells really good. :D Just be careful to wash all of the shampoo off.
it should be ok
It will be alright if you used regular shampoo on your dogs. I do and I like it much better than dog shampoo. They stay soft longer (I use just a little conditioner also).
I don't think so. Dogs skin produces natural oils and I think that dog shampoo facilitates that oil production. I think your shampoo would dry out your dogs skin.
it's ok in neccessity but not all the time also water it down.
No. Shampoo is for hair. Dogs have fur. PH balance is completely different. There are some dog shampoos that you can buy at the grocery store that are not that expensive.

TropicClean is one where you get 20oz and it is under $7.00. Try www.tropiclean.net
of course...i always use my shampoo and conditioner on my dog
Yes, it is okay to use human shampoo on dogs because a animals hair is some what the same as human hair. I use my shampoo on my dogs all the time. It won't disturb them. The only way they can get a skin rash is if their allergic but thats highly rare.
no .. your dogs skin will not get the added protection that he/ she needs for their skin type ( being that you probably don't shampoo him / her every day like yourself. plus most dog shampoos have no tears formulas to protect their eyes as well they help to prevent fleas and ticks .And yes they could have skin irritation.
NO NO NO!!!!!!!! DO NOT use people shampoo on your dogs. They will dry out their skin. Talk to a licensed groomer they will tell you that.
not really , it could cause a allergic reaction and dry his skin out
If you dilute it so its really weak, I've done that when one of mine needed an unexpected bath and I had no dog shampoo.
It's fine. Just dilute it and don't get it near their eyes or it will burn like crazy.
No problem. If you have a creamy, moisturizing shampoo that is best. You can dilute it with some water and rinse it off completely. If your dog has no nicks then you can use a 1 to 1 water and vinegar rinse at the end.

I have tried baby shampoos and dog shampoos and dandruff shampoos (really dumb) and have found the moisturizing shampoos to be the mildest, easiest to lather up, easiest to get into the coat to clean. I found dog shampoos and baby shampoos and dandruff shampoos to be unacceptably harsh for dogs.

The nonsense about only dog food for dogs and only dog shampoo for dogs is just propaganda.
I wouldn't- the ph levels are different and it may be too harsh, cause irritation etc.

Why can't the dog's bath wait a day or two? They should only be washed like once a month anyway- so what's another day or two?
I don't think it will hurt just once, but it could dry out the dog's skin. Make sure you get it all off the dog.
Use the cheap kind.
No, don't use human shampoo on dogs. It can dry out their coat and their skin.
Your hair shampoo won't get rid of fleas or anything. Try using dishwash soap, that is better than your hair shampoo. Dishwash soap will clean the fur better.
use plain soap
