Does the ';john frieda go blonder'; shampoo actually work?

I have been using it for a few days and it is a very nice shampoo that makes my hair really shiney and soft. But does it actually make your hair go lighter after a while?Does the ';john frieda go blonder'; shampoo actually work?
What it does is lightly bleach your hair over time but so does applying lemon juice to your hair and going out in the sunshine, for the same resultsDoes the ';john frieda go blonder'; shampoo actually work?
I bought the shampoo and conditioner for when i went away to greece in july to help my hair go lighter. my hair colour is naturally a light brown / dark blonde and when i got back my hair was actually alot lighter. It goes blonder in the sun anyway but that is usually just the top but this time my whole head was a shade or 2 lighter than before.
